New Year Greetings

New Year Greetings

Dear Partner of Sergelt Ood,

Another year is over and a new one begun!

In 2022 much has happened again; challenges and victories, joys and sadness, setbacks and breakthroughs. Again we look back with thankfulness at another year that God has been with us.We want to say a big thank you for your partnership and all of the support that you’ve been given us throughout 2022!

Your support was truly indispensable and a great encouragement to us. Without it we would not have been able to continue our activities and bring difference in the lives of the homeless. Some of you supported financially, or through gifts in kind, offered training in addiction care and micro business, or helped alongside on our land. THANK YOU!
DROP-IN BUS PROJECT

In 2022 we continued our drop-in bus activities in the areas “Bars” and “Har Horin” and recently added a new location “Zuun Ail”. With your help we were able to provide personal care, medical attention, meals, clothes, haircuts and showers for the homeless.

WINTER SUPPORT VULNERABLE FAMILIES

Besides the homeless there are many others living in ger districts in deep poverty. Though having some sort of roof above their heads, they lack sufficient coals, warm blankets, clothes or basic foods. We started providing help where we can but have actually no budget for that yet.
Please would you consider supporting our drop-in bus and winter support activities? We see so much need around us and there is so much more we would like to do. Another future dream would be to be able to provide an overnight shelter for the winter months. Who knows, next winter? There are so few of these places and every winter many people die on the streets.
COMMUNITY HOUSE PROJECT

A milestone: in the second half of 2022 we could finally start our Community House Project for homeless addicts in recovery! We now have 10 people living with us. Most have come directly from the street through our drop-in bus project, and their main focus is on alcohol rehabilitation. Some others came through other organisations and with already a basis of rehabilitation, their main focus is on reintegrating in society and ongoing recovery and stability.

PREPARATION LIVELIHOOD PROJECT

From spring until autumn lots of practical work continued on our land, such as the building of 2 gers: a big coffeeshop-ger and a smaller ger in the back of our land to function as another accommodation for up to 5 people (rehab program) for our community house project. The work is still ongoing, we will keep you informed!

LOCAL STAFF CHANGE

Also there was some change of local staff and it took longer than expected to form a partly new team. We are thankful with new committed staff and happy to announce that we have found our new local director Bayarsaikhan, who will start the new year in his new role.
WE WISH YOU AND YOUR LOVED ONES MANY BLESSINGS FOR 2023!

On behalf of all of us at Sergelt Ood,
Corrie van der Esch
